WHAT IS SKIPSTER?
Skipster is a media group based in Ithaca, NY and Rochester, NY. Articulated simply, we care about music, whether it’s reviewing, talking or promoting the sounds by which we’re currently most fascinated. In addition to standard blog-based coverage, we’ve begun booking small scale talent that we love and believe in, with the persistent aim of enriching the upstate community through independent arts.
The path we’re paving has a general course, but we’d love for you to help out in some way — because we believe music and community go hand in hand. We try and spread our wings to touch Buffalo through Syracuse, giving you the best in live reviews, gig announcements, news, and all other things music-oriented in Western & Central New York. For ideas and questions, see below.
Mp3 Policy: all songs, podcasts, and/or mp3s are posted for evaluative purposes. They allow readers to preview a song before purchasing an album or the actual song. We tend to post lower quality mp3s, so that our readers have to front the cash and support the artist for a HQ version. If you represent an artist or are an artist that we have highlighted and do not want your work showcased here, simply send an email to an email address below and we will remove it immediately.

WHO IS SKIPSTER?
Scott: Scott likes lady voices and wants to be someone’s PR gopher someday, preferably soon. He spent a lot of time in high school meditating to Tori Amos and is all the better for it. His current role model is Alison Mosshart.
Mike: Mike is a recent film school graduate. He is physically incapable of writing autobiography despite earning his degree in Screenwriting. If you ask him about the first concert he ever attended, he’ll probably lie.
Marisa: Hailing from San Francisco, Marisa is a wannabe hippie beatnik hybrid. The first album she ever purchased was Alanis Morrisette’s Jagged Little Pill — unfortunately, this choice has influenced her musical preferences ever since.
